June 30th is National Drive Your Corvette to Work Day
Want to have another reason to drive your Corvette? Well, now you do. Friday, June 30, is the 17th annual Drive Your Corvette to Work Day.
Every year, the Friday closest to June 30th, which is Corvette’s official birthday, is chosen as the day to drive your Corvette to work. For you trivia buffs, it was on June 30, 1953 that the first Corvettes rolled off a temporary assembly line at Chevrolet’s Customer Delivery Center in Flint, Michigan.
This day of commemoration was conceived of by Mid-America Motorwork’s Mike Yager. “We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally,” said Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader of Mid America Motorworks, “but we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are and it is a chance to Save the Wave and keep the Corvette spirit alive!”
However, what if you are retired and you don’t have to drive into work? Even better, you can drive your Corvette wherever you want to on June 30th, organize a lunch gathering or cruise-in to a local Sonic with your fellow Corvette owners, or come up with another creative way to share your Corvette with the general public.
If you do take your Corvette to work or have it out-and-about to commemorate this day, take some pictures and send them to Mid America Motorworks, which wants your high-resolution photos so they can be posted on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mamotorworks/.
